KVLS & OSCEOLA COUNTY FAIR NAMED SEEDING CHANGE GRANT WINNER

Seeding Change

Kissimmee, FL -The Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show (KVLS) & Osceola County Fair, Kissimmee, Fla., was presented one of six Seeding Change grants at the 124th Annual International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) Convention. The Seeding Change campaign was an industry-wide effort to highlight how member organizations are positively impacting the communities in which they live and work. The IAFE International Convention Program Committee judged more than 50 entries, ranging from community gardens to charitable fundraising efforts and more, with winners selected among each fair size category and associates. For submitting a winning entry, the fair received a $1,000 grant, courtesy of Etix.

The KVLS & Osceola County Fair earned the grant by organizing and executing a work day to benefit a terminally ill fair volunteer at her home. Fair members modified the home for wheelchair access, made needed repairs to the family barn, and organized a meal train to help keep the family fed during the stressful ordeal. The positive outcome of this has resulted in the Fair increasing the work of their Sunshine Committee to provide assistance with the community in the future.

Marketing Award

In addition to winning the grant, they also won a third place award in the marketing/promotional display competition.  KVLS is made up of volunteer members serving on over forty various committees.  It is the non-profit organization which hosts the annual Osceola County Fair at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.  The 2015 Fair takes place February 13 – 22, For information visit www.OsceolaCountyFair.com.
